Fashion For Women Over 50
These days, a lot of women are stating that ’50 is the new 40!’ – But that doesn’t mean you steal things from your daughters closet! It’s inevitable, but as we start to age, so does our body. That means bits start to sag and don’t look so flattering anymore. Even if you have maintained the same weight since you were in your 20’s, your clothes just won’t fit the same anymore. So it’s time to update your wardrobe! One thing you need to remember is, if you try and dress like you are in your 20’s, you aren’t going to look like you are in your 20’s. You need to dress to your age, but that doesn’t mean you can’t look fabulous!
One of the first things you should think about is getting a new hair style. Your hair definitely makes a statement, so you should try something a bit different. Perhaps try a different colour like a warm brown or a gentle blonde. You won’t look any younger if you have blue or red hair! Women in their 50’s can easily rock a pixie cut as long as it is done correctly. If you have long hair, have a go at doing some long, loose and elegant curls. They can do wonders for accentuating your facial features.
Another facial feature to consider is makeup. A lot of the younger generations these days seem to think that the more makeup you have on, the better and younger you look. But this is so wrong. With the right foundation, good mascara and some gorgeous natural eye shadow will look stunning. Matched with a nice baby pink or dull red lipstick and you will look absolutely beautiful in a natural way. You don’t want to cake on the makeup, it will look untidy.
One thing you may not know is that women can very easily give away their age by what they are wearing casually. If you are wearing old, faded loose jeans with sandals and an old outdated shirt with the sleeves rolled up … it’s going to look daggy. If you want to go for a casual look, you need to go with jeans that hug your gorgeous figure. A nice boot cut will go with anything. As for tops, a nice plain t shirt on lacey singlet with a fashion suit jacket will look great and is sophisticated for your age. As for shoes, a nice low heel, ankle boot would be the way to go for this style.
Accessories also play a big part in fashion. You don’t want to overdo it with rings or necklaces. Just a simple, long necklace with a nice ring or two (one on each hand!) a patterned neck scarf and a black or brown shoulder bag will complete the look. If you follow these guidelines, you will be sure to look fabulous for your age!
